Why speaking, specifically?
Most people who studied English for years can read it and follow it, then freeze the moment somebody asks them a question. That is not missing knowledge. It is the one thing you can only learn by doing: speaking, being answered, and being corrected in the moment. tako does that whenever you want, with nobody watching you get it wrong.

You pick the furthest sentence you could really say out loud — not a test, just a few lines — and tako starts exactly there.

Study the unit
Words, phrases and one piece of grammar, all short. Every unit is built around a single skill you can claim afterwards: "I can introduce myself to someone I've just met."

Have the conversation
A real voice call with tako, using what you just studied. When you get stuck it hands you the sentence and waits — and it never ends the call before you do.

Master it, don't just finish it
A unit does not close because you reached the end of it. It closes when you have actually done the thing it is about. If you haven't, you see what was missing and go again — retries cost nothing.
